Im not sure what those, "churches" were at the end of your show were, but they definitely weren't Protestant in any classical sense, and I'd argue not Christian. That's not to say that there weren't true believers within those congregations, but they would exist in spite of, not because of, the teachings (if you can even call it that).
Protestantism in America seems to merely be defined as "not Catholic", and as such a vast majority is truly terrible, unbiblical, and heretical. But that is to not say that all Protestants are that. I have no issue with the label "Protestant", I only take issue with those who give us a bad name.
I know I might sound like a one string guitar, but abandoning Protestantism for another branch of Christianity is not the answer in my opinion. I assure you that ever problem the modern American Protestant church has, every other branch has an infection of the same type, but better hidden.
